*Before we begin, the title's more of a gloat than a complaint. More on that later.

Wow...it's been a long week for me. Between physics 15 homework and midterm quizzes in stats and papers due for poli sci, the regular week's been hectic. One of my classes was cancelled on Monday = good stuff. Had my UCDC interview on Thursday as well...more on that later. Now onto the weekend where the good stuff is.

After classes on Friday, went grocery shopping for a potluck dinner with friends on Saturday. That was okay...ended up carrying tons of stuff back. Mens basketball game that evening. We ended up winning by a lot and we got free tacos. Good stuff. Then after the game, went out for dinner and then went over to one of the apartments to play some Halo 2. It was pretty fun and surprisingly, I actually won at a game. Yay for me.

Speaking for yay for me, I got the e-mail from UCDC when I got back from all of that. Although I though my interview could have been better, I GOT INTO THE UCDC PROGRAM!!! F*** YEAH!!! AFTER GETTING COMPLETELY SCREWED OVER REPEATEDLY THIS QUARTER, SOMETHING FINALLY WENT RIGHT!!! THAT'S RIGHT WORLD, SUCK IT!!!

Now that that's out of my system, on to Saturday. Started the day by cooking for the aformentioned potluck dinner with the band people. That was fun, although some of us were slightly interrupted by having to go to the first women's b-ball game. As for the game...well, for lack of a better word, we were sodomized. Went back to get some desserts and play some gamecube.

Today was just one big, long nap for me. The camp PATH activity in the evening was pretty fun. I won a foam airplane. Good times.

Okay, so here I am...It's a Friday night...no one available to hang out with...just sitting at my computer in my little corner of the room...playing GTA III...all bored and stuff...all alone...yeah...very pathetic.

It's been a pretty dull week. Nothing too special...got to take Thursday off 'cause of Veteran's day. Ended up not doing much till the game that day. Lets see what else...school, meetings, general crap, boredom...the usual. Rinse and repeat. Sunrise, sunset. Bit of good news came in today...gonna have my UCDC interview Monday. Looking forward to that. Also started planning my schedule for next quarter. You know you've hit a low point when you can't take more classes 'cause of schedule conflicts. Classes I wanted to take, but couldn't for the above reason: Intro to Intl. Politics, Metro Politics (with Danziger). On the plus side, looks like I'm gonna be taking WWII Era History next quarter! Good stuff. Speaking of WWII, I still have the "ping" sound of the M1 Garrand stuck in my head. Don't know how that started and why, but it's there.

So yeah...gonna have the room to myself this weekend again. Well, at least I have stuff to do, so I won't be stuck in my own little corner...pondering the meaninglessness of my existence...alone...

Random quote of the day:

"We are in the future.
Today is not a good day for me. First of all, I only got like 3 hours of sleep 'cause of the damn election. Went to class at 8. Then found out the bad news. All I'm gonna say is that a part of me is dead now and I've lost a good deal of faith in the American people as a whole. I'm also really pissed off and disillusioned at the Democratic leadership right now...Kerry should not have conceded and they could have fought a lot harder. Real pussies...

And getting my physics midterm back didn't help too much either.

So here I am all disillusioned and very sad. Feeling a lot more empty and stressed too. It's not the end of the world for me, but I am now a more cynical man as a result. For me, the biggest question is now "Was it all worth it?".

Random quote of the day (why not, I guess):

"Be proud of that vote you wasted!"

-Professor Danziger

Okay...it's been busy the past couple of days with midterms and all. Still managed to have my fun, though. And on top of that, feeling much better.

So I had to attend this thing for club officers on Wednesday. Apparently, there is a difference between saying "UCI club" and "Club at UCI". You know, little nuances like that. Quite entertaining personally. I also got to be a paper boy that morning delivering copies of the IP to Rowland Hall on my way to discussion. And the study session that night was fun...writing on windows, screwing around, and still getting some actual study done. Good shit.

Thursday sucked 'cause I had two midterms. Not too bad, but I thought I could've done better.

Today, I mailed my absentee ballot out.
So I'm back home for the weekend. Went to see my old high school's homecoming game last night. Okay...I also played with the band, which was cool since there were other old people playing with them too. Our team actually won...52 to 0. Needless to say, I was shocked...you know, in the what-in-the-f***-is-going-on-here way.

Anyway, on to other highlights of the week. On Tuesday, we had this gig really early in the morning. Had to get up at 5:00. It was totally worth it, though, since I got to be on the channel 7 morning news weather report. Yep...that's right...GT on TV. Hell yeah...I'm getting more famous now. Good stuff. Needless to say, pretty much everyone payed for it the rest of the day 'cause we were all very, very tired (yours truly included). Also, for the record, I was the tenor section at band that evening. Lets see what else...Tuesday night was crazy hanging with the band kids. Lots of laughs to be had...'nuff said. And one of the new kids managed to get a new nickname.

This week was also the start of midterms for me. Had stats in econ on Thursday and econ on Friday. Needless to say, midterms are a bitch. And it looks like I've got two more to go on Thursday this coming week. Oh joy...Whoop-de-f***ing-do for me...(although they will be the easier midterms I have to take).

Random quote of the day:

"Hmm...up yours government."

-Professor Danziger

Hey gang! I know it's been quite a while since I've updated and tons of stuff have happened in the past two weeks. Let's see what I can remember from the week before last week...Political rally with State Senator Joe Dunn, lotsa YDUCI tabling, band for women's volleyball game, good times in general. Now for this week in no particular order: Midnight Magic on Friday was pretty fun, house debate event on Wednesday at the tri Delta house (yeah...I know...not as bad as one would imagine although freaky nonetheless), getting to go on TV on the same night, having to do a paper for Thursday which was the worst piece of crap I've ever written, band bbq event at the beach (Corona Del Mar's centennial celebration was also happening on that day, complete with fireworks), and not too much else. Um, yeah...that's all I have to say for now...can't remember much else. Oh well, Golf Tango out!
Alright...last night, we ended up getting out close to 1:00 in the morning. Needless to say, I'm quite tired and have been out of it all day. And it looks like today's gonna be another long day for me. As you could guess, I'm once again typing this from my work computer, which is supposed to get a software overhaul some time next week (finally upgrading from Windows NT to XP!). Word is that we're going on till 3:00 in the morning this time...and who knows, we might be here even longer. But like I've said before, I honestly really enjoy my work here. I see it as a time to bond with the other staffers (who I will definitely miss once I leave) and to learn more. It's also a great opportunity for tons of free food and drinks (preferably those of the caffinated and sugary nature...). Fun times at the capitol, all right.

Speaking of drinks, you'd be surprised as to how much alcohol goes around this time of here in the capitol. Yep, drinking when there's very important government business to take care of at the same time...go figure...

And apparently, there is an Assembly drinking game...

Random quote of the day:

"Jesus hates the things that are done in his name: wars, violence, televangelism."

-Dogma

Hey. Alright...I know it's been a while since I put anything up on this account. I've been quite busy and, more importantly, quite lazy to really update this thing. I'm also assuming that not too many people know about it, hence no one will really be reading it as much. So I'm gonna be backposting some stuff to bring ya'll up to speed for the next few days.

Anyhow, on to more recent developments in Sacramento for me. This is quite an exciting week for me right now. I'm getting a new phone (a Nokia 3100) to replace the piece of shit I'm using right now. It's about time 'cause my current phone has not been working...it died on me during an important interview...on two separate occasions. So hopefully, my new phone will serve me much better...a decided improvement as I like to say. Moving on, tonight was interesting 'cause a dinner was thrown for all the UC people interning up here in Sacramento. Exciting stuff. I got to talk to and meet new people from all over. Most of the people were from Berkeley (go figure), but there was quite a diverse crowd (our school was the second biggest crowd...boo yah!). That was fun.

The best part is yet to come, though. This Sunday is the Weird Al concert here in Sacramento! I cannot describe how excited I am for this thing. I can hardly wait...

For now, work is ho hum. Same old same old. Filing papers and such...you know. Quite slow at the office. A small price to pay for the fun this week, though. And it's pretty good 'cause I've managed to finish half of a big project that I'm working on. Fun times, alright.

Sacramento: The First Few Days

So it's my first week up here in Sacramento and already, it's a blast. I've been doing lots of touring downtown 'cause I don't start work till Monday. Lots of interesting things going on...getting oriented, figuring out the bus schedules and routes, funny stories abound, etc. I bought lotsa random crap so far, including (my personal favourite) a Sir Robin (of Monty Python and the Holy Grail fame) action figure. It's awesome...and it talks! Yesterday, I was downtown with a few of the other people in the program...fun times. One of the people, John, decided to get his ear pierced. I enjoyed watching that immensely with sick pleasure...Yeah, I was quite amused. Yup...lotsa exploring. I checked out the place where I'm going to work a few days ago. I'm looking forward to starting on Monday...Pretty much all of the other people have already started. I got to meet some of the other UC people yesterday 'cause we had a get together. Fun times and good people.

The place where I'm staying is okay. It has its problems, though. When we first got here, there was no microwave or internet. Also, we got an oven, but no baking supplies. Great. We finally got a microwave a couple of days ago. As for internet, well, I have it, but its only dial up. Sucky internet...apparently, the providers did not want to sign a contract 'cause we're only up here for a couple of months. So yeah...I was personally hoping for at least DSL. Oh well...at least I have internet to begin with. Also, our place is starting to fall apart on us...lots of screwy things. Go figure.

So that's my spiel for now.

Goddamn I hate 56k...

Hey all! Welcome to my first entry! I've finally created a lj account after giving into peer pressure (thanks Amanda...). Anyhow, this is gonna be mostly for the non UCI people who care to check this. For an account of my capers my first year at UCI, I will direct you to my xanga account. That said, I'm not exactly new to this blogging business. So yeah...glad the year's over. I usually post weekly at the very least, but I hope to be doing more now that I have some free time. That's all for my first entry. Be sure to check up regularly (or whenever you give a damn) to see what I'm up to! Till next time...
